Pregame

Two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference juggernauts going headed in Week 7. The Prairie View A&M Panthers led by Coach Eric Dooley (2-3) came into Baton Rouge prepared for what was expected to be a shoot out against the Southern University Jaguars (2-3). The Jaguars led by Dawson Odums are an impressive 13-1 in their last 14 games at home. Both offenses are among the best in the SWAC and this game was sure to live up the hype. The Panthers coming off a victory in Dallas against the Grambling State Tigers felt the momentum was riding on their side. The Jaguars coming off their blowout win verses Arkansas Pine Bluff were prepared to get on a streak.

1st Quarter

The game started off with Southern University driving down the field early in the game. Southern was able to strike first on an end around to wide receiver Jamar Washington to open the game up and give the Jaguars a 7-0 lead. Prairie View would not allow the Jaguars keep them down long. After converting on a crucial 4th and 8  and a penalty that offset a touchdown for the Panthers; Quarterback Jalen Morton was able to hit wide receiver Kalen Riles on a quick slant for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. With 5:20 remaining in the 1st quarter, Prairie View stopped the Jaguars on 3rd down to force a punt that was blocked and recovered by the Panthers at the Jaguars 13 yard line. The Jaguars defense stood tall in the midst of going down 14-7 early in the game and forced the panthers into a 37 yard field goal, in which their kicker pushed wide to keep the score at 7-7. The Jaguars were unable to take advantage of the momentum shift after Ladarius Skelton threw an ill advised interception to Defensive Back Drake Cheatum who returned the ball to the Southern 21 following a penalty. After great field position and driving the ball near the endzone, Jalen Morton turned the ball over through the air after the Southern defender Tamaurice Smith jumped a slant route in the Panthers end zone. The Panthers self destructed through the first 15 minutes of the ball game leaving 10 points on the board from the missed field goal and interception in their own end zone.

End of 1st Quarter: PV 7 SU 7

2nd Quarter

Early in the 2nd quarter Southern University came out  big after Ladarius Skelton scrambled out of the pocket to hit wide receiver Timothy Thompson for a 40+ yard gain pushing the ball into Panthers territory down to the PV 20 yard line. On a  quick slant off the play action Ladarius Skelton connected with Hunter Register on a 3 yard touchdown pass to give the Jaguars a 14-7 lead with 11:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter to capitalize off the Panther Turnover in their own end zone. Prairie View would not allow the game to get away that easy. The panthers were able to convert on 2 3rd downs with completions of 30+ yards and a 16 yard pass to get the ball into the red zone down to the SU 17 yard line with 7:12 remaining. On a 4th and 12 the Panthers made the bold call to go for it with a trick play reverse to Tristen Wallace who lost his footing in the backfield for a 12 yard loss and turnover on downs. The struggles for the Panthers continued after Jalen Morton found running back Dawonya Tucker in stride, but the ball went through his hands in what would have been a huge gain for the panthers. The 2nd quarter ended with less fire works and more Prairie view missed opportunities.

End of 2nd quarter: PV 7 SU 14

3rd Quarter

In the middle of the 3rd Quarter Ladarius Skelton threw his 2nd interception of the night which was returned for a Prairie View touchdown by Jaylen Harris tying the game up at 14-14 with 8:06 remaing in the quarter. The Jaguars got the ball back and almost had their 3rd pass intercepted by  Tariq Mulmore, instead 2 plays later Ladarius Skelton converted on a 3rd and 12 to Timothy Thompson. On a 3rd and 15 which would have been an easy 1st down, the Jaguars pass was dropped by an open receiver making it 4th down. On the next play Kicker Cesar Barajas nailed a 44 yard field goal to give the Jaguars a 17-14 lead with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The Panthers continued to miss opportunities after a deep pass by Jalen Morton was dropped by wide receiver Kelejawan Chriss which would have put the Panthers near the Jaguars 5 yard line. The next play resulted in a Panthers blocked punt recovered by the Jaguars at the Prairie View 20 yard line to end the quarter.

End of the 3rd Quarter: PV 14 SU 17

4th Quarter

The Jaguars scored on their opening possession of the 4th quarter, running the football in to take a comfortable 24-14 lead over the Panthers. Prarie View would not be denied, on their next possession, on a 4th and 2, Jalen Morton kept the ball on a zone run for a 51 yard touchdown run to bring the Panthers back within 3 leaving the score at 24-21. The Jaguars would come back swinging after running back Devon Benn powered through and trucking Drake Cheatum for a huge touchdown run to give the Jaguars back the lead at 31-21 with 8 minutes remaining in the ball game. Prairie View was not ready to let this game get awat from them; on their next possession Jalen Morton on a zone run play aciton pass was able to connect with Kalen Riles for a 70 yard pass  followed by a horse collar penalty on the Jaguars to put the ball on the Jaguars 3 yard line. The Panthers put Tony Mullins in motion on a handoff for a 6 yard touchdown to cap the drive off putting the score at 31-28. On the kickoff, Southern had a huge return to the Panthers 46 yard line followed by a facemask penalty starting their drive at the Panthers 31. The Jaguars drove down the PV yard line where Ladarius Skelton was able to score on an option run play that was called back for a holding penalty. The Jaguars were forced to settle for 3 giving them a 34-28 lead with 1:58 remaining. On 4th and 9, Jalen Morton would fall short giving the Jaguars the 34-28 victory.

Final Score: PV 28 SU 34

John Witherspoon @Houston Improv September 26th, 2019 at 8:00pm

Review: John Witherspoon @Houston Improv September 26th, 2019 at 8:00pm

The jokes were not overly funny, but it felt like an amazing evening with one of your funniest relatives, not just a random comedian.

I want to begin by saying  “Welcome and Thank You” for joining me for my review of “John Witherspoon @Houston Improv on September 26th, 2019 at 8:00pm.” I am glad that you have decided to join us and  I hope that you will gain valuable knowledge that you can enjoy during my experience.

Service

As I begin my review on Mr. John Witherspoon, I want to begin by thanking the Houston Improv for hosting an amazing event. The staff did a terrific job at catering to the audience. From the moment that we walked through the doors every team member was friendly and provided a big smile and a welcoming atmosphere.

The doormen were prepared to keep the traffic flowing by scanning tickets and directing the audience to step forward to be scanned. They ended their greeting by making sure to remind the audience to “enjoy the show.

Once entering to be seated the ushers greeted everyone and were prepared to seat the audience patiently. If someone did not know where to sit, then they would direct the audience to their area of seating. Once the comedy club began to fill up, they took the initiative to slow down traffic and communicate with one and other where the audience were permitted to sit. This level of communication should be praised in a time where a lot of the time you will see team members who are not on the same page and the teamwork and communication is lacking.

The waiters and waitresses were prompt in servicing everyone on the floor in a timely fashion. They were attentive to what audience members were ordering to insure accuracy on orders. I must commend the cooks and bar tenders for their job as well. The food and beverages were made timely and served as expected from the menu with no issue.  Taking everything into account, their team made it a point to make sure everybody was well taken care of throughout the night.

Food

I ordered the Queso and Chips and a bourbon with coke during the event and both came out as expected. The chips were covered with just the right amount of queso and they provided a side of beef to place on top. The chips were plain, but with the queso added you get the desired taste that you expect. The queso was light and creamy and was not overly salty, which provided an enjoyable snack during the show. The bourbon with coke was evenly distributed and served as a relaxer to enjoy the show. Overall there was nothing that really stood out, but that could be because my choice was pretty basic for a comedy show menu.

John Witherspoon

Now to discuss the man of the Hour Mr. John Witherspoon a.k.a Pops, Mr. BANG, BANG, BANG!!! He is known for his roles in Ice Cube Movie Series Friday, Boomerang,  the popular TV sitcoms “The Wayans Brothers, The Boondocks and many more. The popular actor is known for his Friday word of the day for his son Craig in the movie Friday,  J-O-B!! Mr. John Witherspoon points out that the way he chooses to dress comes from his popular saying “You Got to Coordinate (COO-OR-DIN-ATE)!” He is truly a creative spirit with plenty of laughs to earn a packed house.

The show was sold out on a Thursday night to see John Witherspoon. He was expected to have a big audience based on his household name, but the Houston Improv decided to maximize those efforts by offering ticket specials for his event. Advertisement was heard on the local Houston Radio stations in support of Mr. Witherspoon by encouraging people to come out to the Houston Improve on Thursday night to see John Witherspoon. The efforts put forth by the venue and advertisers to sell out this event was a job well done.

John Witherspoon was full of energy during his entire stand up. He came out on stage with his hair slicked back and dressed up in a white polo with blue boat decorations. He complimented that with a yellow bow tie and yellow pants with white shoes. The outfit was certainly eye-catching to say the least. The stage presence that Mr. Witherspoon exhibited was powerful in the way it amplified his character and performance.

John Witherspoon had a wide range of jokes that lasted nearly two hours. The stand up jokes included his experiences with his prayer warrior sister, his personal hygiene, the way he uses color dye, and his trips on the airplane. He set the tone all night with jokes that were realistic and there were few moments where his jokes did not move the crowd with laughter. The awareness that John Witherspoon invokes with how he makes his jokes and interacts with his audience is phenomenal. During his stand up he took the time to engage with the audience on marketing strategies to sell his products and then flipped that moment into a joke that reflected the value of the full experience with John Witherspoon to end the night.

The entire show felt like you were sitting around one of your funniest family members that you could not help but to laugh at. The jokes were not overly funny, but it felt like an amazing evening with one of your funniest relatives, not just a random comedian. His demeanor during his stand up was so natural and fluid to the point you would not be able to tell the difference between John Witherspoon or his popular character Willie Jones from “Friday“. Overall the entire show was a terrific night out and I would highly recommend seeing him whenever he tours to a city near you for a night full of laughter.

Hidden Treasures (SERIES): Perseverance

The Introduction

I want to begin by saying  “Welcome and Thank You” for joining me for the new series  entitled “Hidden Treasures”. I am glad that you have decided to join us and I hope that you will gain valuable knowledge that you can take with you during this series. “My goal will always be to bring value and inspiration to a thirsty spirit seeking self improvement.”

Throughout life we find ourselves seeking our purpose. We find ourselves involved in activities in which we are highly skilled, and other activities in which we are not as skilled. We push ourselves to not only complete these tasks, but also to prove to ourselves that we are capable. These challenges are used to help empower us and make a statement that there is never a situation that is too big for us to overcome. In this new monthly series entitled “Hidden Treasures” I will provide key traits that will benefit us in our journey throughout life.

Whenever we are able to chase our dreams and desires despite the opposition, we start to see one of our greatest hidden treasures. The challenges and the opposition are not going anywhere, but if we use the tools that we posses to counter each opposition, then we will find our hidden treasure. The hidden treasure that I will examine this month is Perseverance.

Perseverance

“I’m reflective only in the sense that I learn to move forward. I reflect with a purpose.” -Kobe Bryant

When an action occurs that exposes us to opposition or difficulty we have an emotional response of fight vs. flight (refer to Emotional Intelligence series). In this response whenever we take on the fight response, there is an adrenaline reaction inside of us that assists us in pushing forward despite the opposition. Inevitably this response occurs in an effort to discover something bigger inside of us. We discover that there is something inside of us that will not allow us to fail. It is in these exact moments where we find the true definition of perseverance.

Perseverance, as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties; failure or opposition.” Perseverance in any situation that opposes us is a chance to discover purpose.

Perseverance is inside of each us and we locate the treasure of this trait in times of resistance. Let me use for example a journey on a main road that has bumpy roads with potholes, harsh weather, and detours up ahead. On the journey, we are approaching the opportunity to exit the main road and make a U-Turn to avoid the bumps and resistance.

We have a choice to either exit the main road and go down Road A or stay on the main road, which is Road B. Two separate roads, with two separate destinations. Road A  is simple; Road A make us feel more comfortable because we have the opportunity to turnaround and it is smooth sailing back where we came from on our journey. Road B is simple; Road B we continue to push forward on our journey towards our destination despite the opposition. The reward for taking Road A is relief from the pressure of the resistance occurring in our journey. The reward for Road B is the continued pressure of the resistance  that drains us mentally and physically of all our fuel on the journey. The decision is yours to make and even I must admit that Road A sounds like a safer choice in the midst of pressure and resistance. But, pressure and resistance are what create diamonds in a treasure chest.

These decisions provide opportunities to discover our hidden treasure. The return or the reward is greater down Road B than the reward from Road A. We have a hidden treasure inside of us that makes these challenges much easier to face. The treasure of perseverance is what drives us to our success. Whatever motivated you to take the start down your journey will be where you locate the perseverance that lives within you. Perseverance indicates desire. If we truly desire something then there is this feeling inside of us, which is defined as perseverance, that automatically takes over to make sure we reach our destination. The driving factors in our life that connect perseverance with our desires provides the direction we should take in our life. Perseverance is tied to greatness. Once we discover the treasure of perseverance we are able to amplify and enhance the adrenaline in our minds to go that extra mile down Road B which will ultimately drive us to our successes.

When we take the time to examine our life we find that the choices we make indicate courage and perseverance. Courage is grace under pressure, which can be tied to perseverance. The courage from the grace under the pressures of life is what decides whether we go down Road A and make a U-Turn or we go down Road B and continue towards our success. NBA Great, Kobe Bryant states “I’m reflective only in the sense that I learn to move forward. I reflect with a purpose.” Throughout our journey, if we take a look in the rearview mirror of our lives, we will notice that whatever road that we take is an opportunity to reflect with a purpose. I challenge you moving forward  to use the power of perseverance to take the correct Road on this journey. Enlarge the vision and take on life’s challenges with your newly discovered treasure.

Lights, Camera, Action: Personal Development (SERIES) (PT.3-ACTION: TAKE THE STAGE)

Action: Take the stage

In this series, we want to discuss the importance of setting a plan for the foundation of your personal development. Once we have an awareness surrounding the importance then we can use those building blocks to shift your plan into actions towards committing to a life of personal development. I will seek to make you conscious of where you can improve in your personal life by looking at 3 distinguished sections in our series: First, Lights: You must be Ready; Pinpoint areas regularly where you can improve and set guidelines to help manage a plan for personal development. Secondly, Camera: You must be set; Set your stage by becoming conscious and prepare to set the foundation to build on personal development. Lastly, Action; Action is the time to act on that plan. Commit and discipline yourself by implementing your plan and sticking to it. Take Action towards personal development.

Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.”

-Tony Robbins

The script for our personal development is written. The lights are on and you are ready to manage your plan for personal development. The camera is in position and you are focused on what it takes to execute your plan for personal development. Now it’s showtime; time to  put action to our plan.

Nothing can be produced nor developed without an ACTION!

In order to create opportunities to be more successful in our personal development, the shift from planning to action is significant. Controlling your destiny and your future is achieved by understanding the value of action. The value of an action that you take towards your personal development could be the difference between how you assess your legacy. Best-Selling Author and Philanthropist , Tony Robbins says “Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.” The little actions that you today take towards your development could play the largest role in how your life develops tomorrow into it’s purpose.

Nothing can be produced nor developed without an ACTION!

In order to move closer to your goal, you must take one step at a time and readjust from planning to action. A cheetah moves swiftly through the land planning and seeking his prey. As the cheetah places his eye on the prey, the cheetah realizes that it is so close that it must readjust from planning to action. The cheetah realizes it is so close to that it can smell and taste the reward. The only thing left for the cheetah to do in order to get the reward is to act. So, what does the cheetah do? The cheetah takes one step closer to the prey, then another step closer to it’s prey and each step the cheetah takes it gets closer to it’s reward.

Without readjusting during the stages of the process from planning and to a action the cheetah cannot reap it’s reward. The same way  a cheetah will be deprived of reward without making a move or taking an action is the same way that we cannot transcend into our greatness without taking action. Be willing to take the next step and take action on your personal development.

Nothing can be produced nor developed without an ACTION!

Without action, there is no growth. Day in and day out, make it a part of your lifestyle to put in an action to see personal development. Enlarge the scope of who you want to become and challenge yourself daily to take action to work through your plans for personal development. Once the action is started towards your personal development for greatness, do not let anything stop you or derail you from what you envision becoming. Once you enlarge the scope, you can clearly define your actions that you need to take in the face adversity. When adversity comes your way, the only thing that will push you through will be the scope. Why are you pursuing this goal? What motivates you? You need to understand and define your actions based on your scope which will ultimately drive you to continue to act!

You hold the keys to the vehicle so contribute and take the wheel on the path to your greatness. How do you contribute? Take the keys and start the engine, stop thinking and waiting on perfect circumstances. Put the vehicle  in drive and begin taking action towards your personal development. The time for action is the final and most crucial step in a focused vision towards becoming better. Envision the person you are trying to become prepare for the experience, TAKE ACTION and allow the development to occur.

“Nothing can be produced nor developed without an ACTION!”

We have to condition our mindset for action in order to reach our destiny. The change and shift in thinking starts and ends with the 3 P’s of personal development; purpose, process and power.

Purpose

When you have a purpose for your personal development you know that their is greatness somewhere along the quest. Whenever you know the development is serving a greater purpose; you begin to initiate a faithful action.  Faithful actions such as thinking and speaking purpose into the world over your development. “I can be the best at whatever I do!” “I have a gift and a purpose that will generate success!” “I have faith that through my actions I will be guided closer to what I plan to accomplish!” Once we begin to use speech and thought over the purpose then we see the process to reach our destiny begin to manifest.

Process

Trust the process and claim your destiny. Whenever we build definition through the purpose of our personal development,  the beauty of trusting the process begins to shape and form. We find ourselves becoming more self discipline and sacrificing certain things when we begin trusting the process. Why? Because whenever we identify the reward by trusting the process, we begin to live life with a sense of urgency. We realize our self discipline and sacrifices that we are making are reviving what we always envisioned in ourselves. We discover talents and skills in areas of our lives that we always knew were inside of us, but we also discover gifts that we never knew existed. That is the beauty of trusting the process. Once we activate the process through an action, we begin to develop power.

Power

Finally, once we define the purpose and trust the process we begin to discover the power of personal development. The ability that comes out of us by believing that we can succeed is pure power stored inside of us. The universe has designed a purpose and process for each and every one of us in order to bring that power stored inside of us out. The question that you need to ask yourself is how far are you willing to go in order to discover your power? It takes a special amount of grit in order to activate your power. How much are you willing to endure in order to discover the definition of your purpose? How much are you willing to sacrifice in order to claim your purpose? Each action serves to help us grow and without a true desire for personal development you may never truly understand your calling. This journey of personal development takes us to the deep end of the ocean, but it also will take us to the highest points of the universe where we can discover just how powerful we are.

Nothing can be produced nor developed without an ACTION!

LIGHTS….CAMERA……ACTION!
Allow the ending credits to play out in a life where you are the director of your masterpiece. Be the director and choose to pursue a daily life of personal development on your quest towards your happily ever after.
THE END.

“I don’t focus on what I’m up against. I focus on my goals and try to ignore the rest.”
– Venus Williams

The above quote symbolizes the importance of being set, being focused and being aware of what we want to accomplish. No person, thing, or obstacle is responsible for your development except you.  You must identify the areas of personal development that you would like to improve and focus your time and energy on making those improvements. Everything that you do to improve yourself is an added value to “YOU”. Therefore, it is up to you to interrupt the flow and the patterns that are causing you not to focus on reaching your potential.

The Producer or DJ makes the beat, but if the producer or DJ does not stay in tuned with his beat then the beat loses the rhythm. If we move blindly with no focus, then we are setting ourselves up to lose our rhythm. We lose our beat and in return we do not reach maximum productivity to reach our goals. Challenge yourself to focus 100% on your goals and get in a rhythm so you can enjoy the sweetness of the ending product. A Producer’s ending product is his or her music, your product is whatever you are seeking to improve. Put in the work, commit yourself and focus.

Be a goal taker. Empty your mind of anything that is not assisting you in pursuing your goals. You spent the time envisioning a clear path to reach your goal, you took the time building the foundation; now it’s time to FOCUS. Without FOCUS, you lose the most important resource for your development. You have a map, you have a vision for what you want to accomplish, but you do not posses the tools to set up shop and stay on track toward success without focusing.

We must become consciously committed  to focusing on areas that we have identified for personal development. We must meditate and block out the distractions surrounding the areas that we have identified for personal development. We must set a bounty out on the areas that we have identified, and mentally prepare ourselves to capture and conquer those areas of personal development.

Whenever a videographer shoots an appealing scene for a film, they must focus their eyes and the camera on the areas they want to capture. The same concept is important for anyone seeking personal development. Focus in on areas where you can improve and allow the grand picture to be captured and developed in scenes or phases.  In each phase or scene their lies an area to be captured; which in turn contributes to the complete vision of our success. In each phase or scene of your life capture the opportunities presented for personal development. Then, as you shift to your new objective, keep a focused vision to capture the next opportunity for improvement. The focus that you utilize through each scene sets the stage for your vision towards personal development.

A director faces the challenge of producing a successful work piece. A director has to have a vision and a plan to take scene by scene in order to reach a strong ending. When a director looks at the vision of  their project, he or she must be sharp and focused to fulfill the script and vision for their project. In order to do this, they must stay on track and remain focused on the results that they want to accomplish. Director, it’s time to make your master piece. It’s time to “BE FOCUSED” so you can become one step closer to reaching your happily ever after.

In order to properly and effectively improve on a cogent action, you must be ready. In order to properly and effectively be ready, you must be conscious of the action you are seeking to improve or develop. We have to mentally prepare ourselves and display the desire to want change and development within ourselves. My personal belief is that once we become comfortable with ourselves. A comfort zone is designed to make us lazy and make us relax while deep down inside our inner spirit thirsts for greatness. We minimize areas where we have uncapped potential in our lives once we allow ourselves to step into a comfort zone.

Whenever a journey seeker looks at the hill top of a mountain, they see the potential of reaching the top. During their journey they strategize and pinpoint ways to reach the top of the mountain. As they start their journey the beginning of the journey is relaxing and comfortable.  As they get further along their journey the uncomort they begin to feel during the process of climbing a mountain begins to set in. However, a mountain climber never settles for comfort because they desire to reach the top and see the other side of the mountain. Therefore, a mountain climber finds areas where they can improve their stamina, save energy, and use all their resources available to get to the top of a mountain. In order for us to develop and achieve greatness, we must never get in a comfort zone. Because like a mountain climber, if we identify areas for improvement we put ourselves in position to climb to the top of our mountain and then we see the other side of our development; which in return brings an inconceivable receptivity of fulfillment. We must not allow ourselves to be content with mediocrity, there is always room for improvement.

Whenever preparing for a flight a pilot must wait for air traffic control before they can perform a safe takeoff. If the sky is not cleared by air traffic control then a pilot will not be cleared for takeoff. Air traffic control must evaluate and confirm the area is clear in order for any plane leaving their ports to takeoff through the sky. The same concept goes for us during the process of personal development. Our vision must be clear by pinpointing and evaluating areas for personal development before we can confirm takeoff and reach the heights of our potential. The keen aspect that sets apart a special individual compared to an average individual is the ability to confidently and constructively evaluate themselves. Taking responsibility is the first step towards become conscious and preparing yourself for improvement. In the moment where you are able to pinpoint areas where you need improvement, your conscious and spirit for greatness is born! Once you discover your spirit and your consciousness for greatness, then your potential to reach greatness grows with you. Whenever you see growth, you awaken the illustrious GIANT inside of you.

The most valuable action that you can take with your time is to be prepared. The time that you put into improving yourself is the best time spent. Investing in your time in preparation and improving yourself is the best investment that you can make. Why? It is simple, preparation and putting in time to improve yourself eventually turns into a return. You should be using your time and preparation to monetize your return on your investment in yourself. If you have evaluated yourself and put together a plan to improve yourself, then be ready to make the commitment.  You must deliberately choose to take the time to regularly pinpoint areas where you can improve. Motivate yourself to nourish your mind and contribute to the commitment of your plan.  You have to be relentless in your preparation no matter how many long nights and days it takes.

Whenever you see a “great” athlete or performer step out on the big stage they are prepared. If you concentrate and practice on your craft, you put yourself in position to be ready. The results depend on the effort that you are willing to put in to be the best. We have 1,440 minutes in each day. If you take 180-240 minutes out of each day and dedicate that time towards preparation for greatness in your craft, then you allow greatness to seep into your mind, spirit and body. You attract greatness towards you when you live, sleep and breathe it. Great individuals mobilize throughout life with an attitude of greatness  because they have spent more time investing in preparation than mediocrity. Robert Smith, Michelle Obama, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Denzel Washington, Les Brown, Tyler Perry, Steven Spielberg didn’t became great based off of talent alone. No, they were passionate about their craft and they made sure that before each challenge they were prepared and ready. We do not do ourselves any favors by just having a plan developed and not being prepared to act on that plan. A blueprint design depends on the preparation of an architect. An architect depends on their skill set. Their skill set depends on the amount of time they have invested in their talent. To simplify this formula, investing your time in being ready and prepared are key to the larger vision. Discipline yourself by taking the time to invest in preparing yourself for whatever you want in life. Invest in yourself and “BE READY”.

A director faces the challenge of producing a successful work piece. A director has to have a vision and a plan to take scene by scene in order to reach a strong ending. When a director looks at the vision they are seeking to shoot for their project, he or she must have  prepared themselves to fulfill the script and vision for their project. In order to do this, they must work on themselves and work on their craft piece by piece so that they can “BE READY” to reach their happily ever after.
